Rising basketball star Anthony Davis has filed trademark applications for a number of phrases related to his physical appearance.
The 19-year-old Kentucky University student – set to be first pick in this week’s NBA Draft – has a trademark unibrow which he has sported since puberty.
And in light of his growing fame, the 6 ft 10 in forward-center has secured his commercial interests in the phrases ‘Fear The Brow’ and ‘Raise The Brow’.
“I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it,” Davis told CNBC.
“Me and my family decided to trademark it because it’s very unique.”
The student noted that he has often been told to cut his eyebrow, but won’t “because everyone is talking about it”.
During his freshman year, the University of Kentucky issued half a dozen cease and desist letters to parties seeking to capitalise on Davis’ brand.
“Towards the end of the season, people were getting really creative,” said Jason Schlafer, associate athletic director for marketing.
