Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods has filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against a rival firm.
The company believes its trademarks are being infringed by Big Easy Foods, which formerly held the licence for certain Tony Chachere food products.
After the companies terminated their agreement, the two moved into competition with one another.
Tony Chachere has accused Big Easy Foods of selling products which closely resemble its brand, wording, and packaging.
Don Chachere, president and chief executive of Tony Chachere’s Creole Foods, described the company as “his grandfather’s dream”.
“We owe it to Tony, our employees, and the millions of consumers that love this company to defend it to the best of our ability,” he stated.
“Our well-known and distinctive packaging is our brand. People all over the country recognize and trust our products because of that brand.”
