Video game company Sega has registered a trademark for a new title in Europe called Sonic Lost Worlds – indicating a new Sonic the Hedgehog game will be emerging in the future.
Indeed, the company has now announced a new Sonic title will be emerging and will be exclusively available on Wii U.
Very few details have been revealed about the game itself, but Sega did the right thing in trademarking before announcing it. If it had not done so then somebody else could have picked up the mark, meaning the company would need to go through a lengthy process to obtain it.
Video game companies often register trademarks and domain names long before any game is revealed just to ensure they have control of it as losing out can prove costly.
