Choosing a suitable domain name is an important task when setting up a website or blog, it has been claimed.
Writing for the Guardian, Andrea Wren suggested using a popular keyword in your company’s industry niche as part of its domain name.
Desired domain names may not be available, but it is possible to work around single terms or phrases to develop memorable new web addresses, she noted.
“When choosing, avoid hyphens in the domain as they make it harder for people to remember your URL,” Ms Wren added.
She suggested that in most cases, .com addresses are the most attractive to businesses, as they are easiest to remember.
According to the latest Domain Name Industry Brief, the number of names registered worldwide rose to more than 215 million during the second quarter of the year.
This represented a growth rate of 2.5 per cent on the first quarter of the year.
