Google Announces Launch Plans
Google Registry announced launch plans for two of the TLDs under their management, .app and .dev. Both TLDs provide a secure namespace for apps and developers to promote and showcase their products and services. Google added both .app and .dev to the HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) preload list, meaning secure connections (SSL certificates) will be required. The launch begins with a Sunrise Phase on March 29, 2018. Domains will enter General Availability on May 1, 2018, with a 7 day Early Access Program to start.
