SPOTLIGHT
.SK
The SK Registry will start releasing 1-, 2- and 3-character .sk domains for registration from October 1, 2024. Domain will be released through an auction process with priority phase for trademark holders and with the public auction to follow.
Requests for priority phase will require signed documentation and private auction will take place if there are multiple applicants for the same name during this phase.
The public auction names will be added to the auction in groups on a monthly basis and the first group of names will be available from November 15, 2024.The names participating in the first public auction group will be determined based on the results of the priority phase. .SS, CO.SS
The South Sudan domain registry, ssNIC, recently announced a launch schedule for its top-level .SS extension along with CO.SS. Currently, the registry is only accepting registration applications from entities with corresponding trademarks (local or international) during the Sunrise phase. Additionally, the South Sudan sub-extensions of BIZ.SS, COM.SS, ME.SS, and NET.SS are also now supported for registration via CSC. All South Sudan extensions are unrestricted. No local presence is required.
.CV
The Registry for Cabo Verde has decided to relax the rules of registration and make their domain extension available for anyone to register. They are positioning the domain extension to be used for career and jobs, as CV is the abbreviation for Curriculum Vitae. CSC already has the systems set up to register .CV domain names and can place orders now. Retail registrars have not set it up yet so this isn’t available through those registrars at the moment, so we strongly suggest you defensively register this liberalized extension as soon as possible.
.VE Top-Level Now Available
The Venezuelan domain registry, NIC.VE, recently announced the availability of top-level .VE domain registrations for the first time, with immediate effect. Currently, the registry is only accepting registration applications from corporate registrants who own a corresponding trademark on a first-come, first-served basis.

.MY Globalization
MYNIC has announced as part of their globalization/liberalization program for the top level .MY TLD they will be opening the TLD to all foreign registrars from 13-Jun-2024. Included in this change MYNIC will perform an Early Access Period from 13-Jun-2024 to 19-Jun-2024 applicable to all registrars. During this period domain registration will only be available at a premium fee. Domain registrations can be performed prior to the Early Access Period at standard fees.
biz.my, com.my, net.my and org.my are not included in the globalization program and will remain at standard pricing during the period.
.AD Liberalization
The Andorra Telecom registry has announced that they are launching a liberalization program to release restrictions on .AD domains. Registrants who are not Andorran Public Institutions or Trademarks/Trade name holders will now be able to register .AD domains.
This program will be launched in 4 phases:
- Sunrise Phase (22-May-2024 to 16-Oct-2024): Only open to Andorra Public Institutions and Trademarks/Trade name holders registered before 22-May-24.
- Limited Availability (22-May-2024 to 16-Oct-2024): Open to registrants having some prior rights to register names matching those rights.
Rights in priority order:
1. Corporate names for Andorran legal entities
2. Foreign Trademarks registered before 22-May-2024
3. Names of individuals being citizens or residents in Andorra
4. Names matching domain names in other TLDs registered before 22-May-2024.
- Landrush Phase (05-Sept-2024 to 16-Oct-2024): Registration opens to all interested registrants with no prior right.
- General Availability (22-Oct-2024): Open to all interested registrants on a first-come, first-served basis.
.TR Launch Information
Please note that the Turkish Registry, TRABİS, has launched .TR extension on the 4th September for General Availability on a first come first served basis.
